The Boeing 747 is a long-range, wide body commercial passenger jet aircraft. The Boeing 747-100 first flew on February 9, 1969 and entered in service one year later with launch customer Pan American World Airways.
Project Open Sky is a freeware aircraft developer group that has been around for some time. They developed many aircraft models for FS2002 and FS2004, mostly Boeing aircraft. Their Boeing 747-100 is a highly detailed representation of its real world counterpart. A few of the features are:
dynamic shine,
fully animated control surfaces,
opening passenger and cargo doors,
ground service vehicles, dynamic flexing wings and more. There are three different Pratt and Whitney powered models available.
The flight dynamics are improved compared to the older version 3 747 series as is the wingflex, which is lift based instead of gear compression based. Unfortunately, the rudder effectiveness has not been improved and is still insufficient to keep the aircraft aligned with the runway centerline in crosswind conditions. Many liveries are available on the Project Open Sky website. |
