The Boeing 747 is a long-range, wide body commercial passenger jet aircraft. The Boeing 747-200 is an improved 747-100, but with more powerful engines and higher takeoff weights.
Project Open Sky is a freeware aircraft developer group that has been around for some time. They developed many aircraft models for FS2002 and FS2004, mostly Boeing aircraft. Their Boeing 747-200 is a highly detailed representation of its real world counterpart. A few of the features are:
dynamic shine,
fully animated control surfaces,
opening passenger and cargo doors,
ground service vehicles, dynamic flexing wings and more. There are many different models available like GE, PW and RR powered versions and freighter versions.
The flight dynamics are improved compared to the older version 3 747 series as is the wingflex, which is lift based instead of gear compression based. Unfortunately, the rudder effectiveness has not been improved and is still insufficient to keep the aircraft aligned with the runway centerline in crosswind conditions. Many liveries are available on the Project Open Sky website. |
