Meljet 777-200/300

review

The Boeing 777 is a long haul wide-body commercial passenger jet aircraft. It can carry between 301 and 550 passengers over a distance of max. 17,446 Km. The 777 was launched to fill the gap between the 767-300ER and the 747-400. The first 777 entered service with United Airlines in 1995.

Meljet's 777-200 and 777-300 models are well designed with a lot details. Both models are available with GE, PW and RR engines. No panel or sound is included, so you have to use the default panel and sound (or download them yourself). Instead of a virtual cockpit, Meljet decided to add a passenger cabin (screenshot #3). Some special animations are programmed into the model: Press and hold shift en press the "E" key to activate the maintenance mode, you'll see the engines opening, the R.A.T. (Ram Air turbine) deployed and the gear bay doors opening.

The flight dynamics are not bad, but the center of gravity is moved forward too much, so the aircraft sometimes slams with the nose wheel on the ground when landing. And there are more problems: The main landing gear behaves unrealistic and the rudder doesn't have any effect while on the ground. So a crosswind landing is not a good idea. Some of this problems might be related to the fact that this aircraft was developed for FS2002.

Well it should work. The aircraft is not visible in the aircraft selection menu in FSX?

And why not use the Posky 777? It's much better.

The Posky 777 is the best to land, meljet 777 likes to slide sideways off the runway what a P.O.S.

"When you say that the wingflex is "Gear Animation Based" does that mean the rolling of the wheels, or the tilt of the set of landing gear?

I THINK there's a freeware panel somewhere for the 777... yup.. it's on www.arch-spada.com, scroll down on the right side and there's a panel for the 777-300.... well... close enough.
LOVE POSKY... just wish they would transfer to FSX! THEN we would have some excellent freeware!
