Perfect Flight - Fly The MD-11

review

The "Fly the MD-11" package contains a horrible aircraft model (only the Pratt & Whitney powered version, passenger + cargo model), 27 liveries, engine sounds, adventure setup program, (very) brief user guide and various documents. Although this aircraft was originally developed for FS2002, it works ok in FS2004.

Unfortunately, many things about this aircraft are not quite right. Let's start with the exterior model: If you compare this model with photos of a real MD-11, it doesn't look like the real one at all (especially the nose/cockpit section). The main landing gear is very unrealistic: The angle of the wheels is not right, no suspension and the wheels are floating over the runway. Also, the vertical stabilizer doesn't move in trim mode, the thrust reversers extend too far (see screenshot #7), the liveries are low quality, have too much reflection and the registration numbers are not right, no wingview, no wingflex and the engine sound isn't good either.

If you like realistic simulation of cockpit systems, you'll be disappointed with this package. The 2d panel looks simple and doesn't look like a MD-11 panel. Some of the gauges that are used are default gauges borrowed from various default FS2004 panels. The virtual cockpit looks simple as well, the same default gauges and low quality textures. A simple virtual passenger cabin is modeled in the virtual cockpit, but the wings are not visible.

Well, I don't own it and I never will. I must agree w/ the review. This sucks. The Overland MD-11 is free and nicer than this. If you want to pay for an MD-11 with a very similar price, go with the Skysim model. That is quite realistic (and not too expensive).

My looking at the screenshots, i have to say that this aircraft looks too much like AI, so i would never pay .00 for one AI aircraft! if the model looked better then maybe...

The nose is too stubby, the cockpit is very different from my PMDG MD-11, and are the engines too big or the cabin is small???
