SGA/Vista Liners MD-90 series

review

The McDonnell Douglas MD-90 is a short to medium range, narrow body commercial passenger jet aircraft. Although the MD-90 is with being 5 feet longer than the MD-88 the largest member of the MD-80 family, it still holds 153 to 172 passengers. The MD-90 program was launched in 1988 and besides the increased length it features more powerful, quieter and fuel efficient IAE V2525D5 engines. The MD-90 also features an EFIS glass cockpit based on that in the MD-88. The MD-90 remained in production until 2001.

The SGA MD-90 is a good looking and frame rate friendly model. All the usual animations are present. The flight dynamics are quite good, its not very hard to control this aircraft. However, the engine spool up time seems to be rather slow, which is not realistic for the modern IAE V2525D5 engines. The behavior of the main landing gear is realistic, but the retraction process seems to be too fast. Also, the thrust reverse is not very realistic, when the thrust reversers are engaged, N1 is going up all the way to 110% (should be something between 60-70% N1). With the wingfold command, a ground service vehicle appears and the rear stairs extend.

You have to open the panel.cfg and sound.cfg files and change 737_400 to 737_800.

You can also read about this on the reviews main page just above "Warning messages".

There should be an icon with a "?" in it and the text below it should indicate that it is the md-90.

This is what you should see in FSX if you install the aircraft like I told you:

I suggest you go to the AVSIM Library for sounds.

Wingsviews are modeled in the virtual cockpit and offer a nice view of the wings from the passenger point of view. This can either be in combination of a virtual cockpit or only the wings/engines. In the interest of framerate, some developers choose to create separate models for the virtual cockpit and the wingview. You cannot download wingviews for an aircraft that has none, because it is part of the model.

In case you see a downloadable package of wingviews for certain aircraft, it means that someone offers a modification of the panel that will change the default viewpoint of the right/left side in such a way that you see the wings. Sometimes they even use textures of a window that makes it look like you're a passenger looking out the window. In any case, those downloads are only possible for aircraft with the wings/engines modeled in the virtual cockpit. So this field only says if the wings are modeled in the virtual cockpit, it doesn't say if the developer included the right default viewpoints in order to see the wings/engines.

Use a program like F1View (freeware) or Active Camera (payware) to move around in the virtual cockpit so you can change the viewpoint yourself and take a look at the wings. Both programs are for FS2004 only.

So, nothing is missing, it's just because there are no default viewpoints for FSX that let you see the wings. You can create those yourself or look on the internet for pre-made viewpoints.
