France VFR Falcon 50

review

The Falcon 50 is a three engine high performance business jet produced by Dassault Aviation, a subsidiary of Dassault Group. The Falcon 50 was developed for long range trans Atlantic and transcontinental flight sectors, using the Falcon 20 as the design basis. The Falcon 50 was later replaced by the Falcon 50EX. The modernized Falcon 50EX requires only a 4,890 feet of runway even at maximum gross takeoff weight.

The France VFR Dassault Falcon 50 was originally designed for FS2000, but later made compatible with FS2002 and FS2004. So, we're dealing with a very old design. Still, the exterior looks good and all usual animations are present. The self-installer package comes with the aircraft model, one livery, 2d panel, virtual cockpit/cabin and sounds. There are actually three aircraft models: A version with 2d panel, virtual cockpit and cabin, a version with 2d panel and virtual cockpit and a version with only a 2d panel.

The panel is not that detailed by today's standard. However, the most important systems are simulated. The virtual cockpit is a bit simple. The rudder works ok, but only on the ground. The rudder movement in the air is very limited, like the yaw damper is on (but is not). Other than that, everything works very well. The flight dynamics are not bad and the autopilot is working perfectly. The manual is a small program that contains various info about the aircraft operation and installation in French and English.

    I all!
Totally agree. I'll pay for an FSX compatible version.
I've been looking in every site for a FALCON (the best for me) and I can't believe there isn't any.
Where are the people ho developed this one? It is such an amazing job.

Hey this is a beautiful a/c but i have a huge problem: At 13.000 ft (aprox.) it starts to loose A LOT of airspeed, even with just 25% of fuel adn no payload. Climbing at 300fpm i can barely make it to 34.000 ft but then i need full thottle in order to achieve and mantain mach .80. Its like if the engines are loosing too much performance when at high altittudes, how can i fix this.
    Thank you in advance

There's an error in the aircraft.cfg file of the FS2004 version of this aircraft. Search for "inlet_area" under "Turbine Engine Data." Change "4.4" to "1.4" and the aircraft will perform like it should at high altitudes.

The other thing I suggest doing is reducing elevator and aileron effectiveness a bit (in the "Flight Tuning" section of the same aircraft.cfg) to give a slightly heavier (more realistic) control feel and reduce or eliminate porpoising at cruise altitude when using time compression.
