Short field takeoff and landing at SABA

description

This is a small video of a (very) short field takeoff and landing at J. Yrausquin Airport, Saba Island (SABA). The runway lenght is only 1,312 ft and has a permanent "X" painted on either side of the runway. It designates the airport as permanently closed to all air traffic except traffic officially permitted to operate into Saba on waivers obtained from the Netherlands Antilles' Civil Aviation Authority.

In this video, I managed to takeoff and land a Boeing 737-400. Of course, I wouldn't advise to try it in the real world, but with the default 737-400 in FS2004, it is possible. Perhaps the default aircraft in FS2004 are not that realistic like some add-ons, so that might have worked in my favor. I've set the center fuel tank to empty and the left and right wing tanks both to 10% of fuel. All payload has been removed, except the weight of the pilot and co-pilot. The wind was set to a quite calm 11-14 knots headwind.

For the takeoff, I've pushed back the aircraft as far as possible and then increased thrust to 100% while holding the brakes. After the engines reached full power, I've released the brakes and was getting airborne quick enough. The landing was done with full flaps and autobrakes to max.
